One of the most idyllic regions in France, Loire Valley is a mix of breathtaking beauty and rich history. Encompassing 280 km, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to 21 Loire Châteaux named as “Major Sites of the Val de Loire”. Tours of Loire Valley include exploring age-old castles, Renaissance towns and scenic vineyards, each with tales to tell. It is an ideal place for cycling, boating and nature strolls too.
In 52 BC, the Loire Valley region was conquered by Julius Caesar, though it was the subsequent rule of Emperor Augustus that saw it being transformed. Charles VII, François I and Leonardo da Vinci all had homes here and it is not hard to see why.
